Horace ends a friendly letter to the poet Albius – probably the love poet Tibullus – with a joke at his own expense. Believe that every day that dawns is your last, he advises; every hour you didn’t count on will be a welcome gift. And when you want a laugh, come and see me: fat and sleek, well groomed, a pig from Epicurus’s herd. Critics called Epicureans pigs; Horace makes it a boast.

How we check reviews
- Before publishing a buyer’s review, we check the order number against our orders. That is what the “Verified buyer” badge means.
- We publish every genuine review, positive or critical. We only remove spam, insults and personal data.
- We don’t pay for reviews and don’t reward them with discounts. If someone received a product for free as a sample, it says so on their review.
- The rating is the average of all published reviews of this product. Newest reviews are shown first.
