Privacy policy

1. Controller

L. Maximilian Schmidt, Rome Wisdom, c/o MDC#1858, Welserstraße 3, 87463 Dietmannsried, Germany, email: RomeWisdomService@web.de. We have not appointed a data protection officer as we are not legally required to do so.

2. Visiting our shop

Our shop runs on Shopify (Shopify International Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, and its parent company Shopify Inc., Canada – Canada has an EU adequacy decision). When you visit the shop, technically necessary data (IP address, browser, date and time, pages visited) is processed to provide and secure the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Cookies and consent

We use strictly necessary cookies for cart and checkout (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, § 25(2) TDDDG). Analytics and marketing cookies and pixels are only used if you consent via our cookie banner (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings.

4. Orders

To process your order we process your name, address, email, phone number (if provided), order and payment details (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). To produce and ship your order, your name, delivery address and order details are passed to our print-on-demand service Printify (Printify SIA, Riga, Latvia, and Printify, Inc., USA) and to the print partner that produces your order in your region (EU, United States, Canada or Australia), as well as to the shipping carrier. Transfers to countries outside the EU take place on the basis of adequacy decisions (e.g. Canada, EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR), and are necessary to fulfil your order.

5. Payment

Payments are processed by the payment provider you choose at checkout (e.g. Shopify Payments/Stripe, PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., Luxembourg). The data required for payment is passed to them (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Their own privacy policies apply.

6. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you news about new designs and offers and, after delivery of an order, an invitation to review it (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Emails are sent via Shopify and, for review invitations, via Judge.me (see section 9). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

7. Contact and withdrawal form

If you contact us or use our withdrawal form, we process your details to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).

8. Advertising

If you consent, we may use advertising pixels (e.g. X/Twitter, Twitter International Unlimited Company, Dublin, Ireland) to measure the success of our ads and show relevant ads (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Without consent these pixels are not loaded.

9. Product reviews (Judge.me)

We use Judge.me (c/o Buckworths, 2nd Floor, 1-3 Worship Street, London EC2A 2AB, United Kingdom) to collect and display product reviews. Judge.me processes this data on our behalf. Transfers to the United Kingdom are based on the EU adequacy decision for the UK or the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

Review invitations: If you agreed to receive emails from us, we send you an invitation to review your order after delivery and, if needed, one reminder (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

Writing a review: We process your rating, review text, photos, display name, email address and the related order. Shown publicly: rating, review text, photos, your display name (first name and last initial, or “Anonymous”), the review date, the product and labels such as “Verified”. Never shown: your email address, full name, postal address and order details.

We publish your review because you submit it for publication (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We use your email address and order to confirm your review and your purchase – our legitimate interest in genuine reviews (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) – and to send you your voucher for photo reviews (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Your review stays online until you ask us to remove it. Email RomeWisdomService@web.de and we will remove it. Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of what was published before.

10. Retention

We delete your data once it is no longer needed for the purposes stated. Order and invoice data is retained for the periods required by German commercial and tax law (generally 6 to 10 years).

11. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg. To exercise your rights, email RomeWisdomService@web.de.

12. Customers outside the EU

We do not sell personal data. Residents of the United States, Canada and Australia may contact us at the email above to request access to or deletion of their personal information.
