The story behind it
“To err is human.” Everyone makes mistakes – what matters is what you do next. A later version adds: “…but to persist in error is diabolical.” Cicero had already written that anyone can err, but only a fool persists in error. The design imitates the graffiti ordinary Romans scratched into the walls of Pompeii.
