The story behind it
“Caesar ended the talk.” In 58 BC Caesar met the Germanic king Ariovistus for peace talks on a hill in Gaul, each side with a cavalry escort. While they spoke, Ariovistus’ horsemen rode up and began throwing stones and spears at the Romans. Caesar did not argue any further: he ended the conversation and rode back to his men, and told them not to throw anything back, so that nobody could say the Romans had broken the truce. Two days later Ariovistus asked for new talks – and put Caesar’s envoys in chains. Here Caesar turns his horse and lifts his hand: the talk is over.

How we check reviews
- Before publishing a buyer’s review, we check the order number against our orders. That is what the “Verified buyer” badge means.
- We publish every genuine review, positive or critical. We only remove spam, insults and personal data.
- We don’t pay for reviews and don’t reward them with discounts. If someone received a product for free as a sample, it says so on their review.
- The rating is the average of all published reviews of this product. Newest reviews are shown first.
