The story behind it
“Citizens, lock up your wives: we are bringing home the bald womaniser.” At a Roman triumph the soldiers marching behind their general were allowed to mock him with rude songs. At Caesar’s Gallic triumph in 46 BC his own legions sang this about their balding commander and his many affairs. The words are not Suetonius’ own: the historian recorded the song in his Life of Caesar some 165 years later. Here a husband bolts his door as Caesar’s chariot rolls into the street, while his wife drops a rose from the window.

How we check reviews
- Before publishing a buyer’s review, we check the order number against our orders. That is what the “Verified buyer” badge means.
- We publish every genuine review, positive or critical. We only remove spam, insults and personal data.
- We don’t pay for reviews and don’t reward them with discounts. If someone received a product for free as a sample, it says so on their review.
- The rating is the average of all published reviews of this product. Newest reviews are shown first.
